Empathy First partners with University of Houston's Graduate college of Social Work (GCSW) to assist in the professional development of Master's level interns on their last step before joining the workforce as professional Social Workers. 

• • Direct Service Experience while managing a caseload under the supervision of a Licensed Clinical Social Work - Supervisor

    • Individual counseling

    • Couple's counseling

    • Family counseling

    • Group counseling

    • Case Management

  • Supervision

    • Weekly Intern-focused group supervision 

    • Periodic individualized supervision meetings with Practicum Instructor. 

  • Application Process

    • The GCSW hosts an annual Practicum Marketplace in February every year. 

    • Student interviews follow throughout March which typically includes a virtual interview followed by an in person interview at one of our locations.

    • The amount of interns accepted varies each year depending on several factors.
