About Us
Empathy First Clinical Counseling and Consulting is a client-centered mental health practice dedicated to providing compassionate, evidence-based care to individuals, families, and groups. Our team of licensed clinicians is committed to creating a welcoming and affirming environment where every client feels seen, heard, and supported. We are growing, and we are looking for a dedicated, skilled, and mission-aligned Pre-Licensed Master’s Level Clinician to join our team and build a meaningful caseload within a supportive clinical community.
Position Overview
The Associate Child Clinician will provide individual, family, and/or group psychotherapy services under the clinical supervision of our LCSW-S, in accordance with Texas law and BHEC requirements. This is an independent contractor (1099) position offering flexibility, structured supervision toward full licensure, and a collaborative practice environment. This role is ideal for a newly licensed LMSW or LPC Associate who is motivated to develop their clinical identity, grow a caseload, and work toward independent licensure in a values-driven setting.
Clinical Services
Provide individual, family, and/or group therapy sessions to a growing caseload of clients
Conduct biopsychosocial assessments and develop individualized treatment plans
Maintain timely, accurate clinical documentation in accordance with HIPAA, practice policy, and ethical standards
Collaborate with the clinical team on case consultation, referrals, and care coordination
Supervision & Compliance
Participate in regular clinical supervision with the Practice’s LCSW-S as required by Texas BHEC
Maintain active LMSW or LPC Associate licensure in good standing throughout the term
Promptly report any changes in licensure status, complaints, or disciplinary actions to Practice leadership
Maintain professional liability insurance with minimum coverage
Professional Development
Make good-faith efforts to develop and maintain an active caseload, working toward practice benchmarks
Pursue continuing education and remain current on ethical and clinical best practices
Participate in the broader mission of Empathy First through team communication and collaboration
Compensation
Majority of collected revenue
Supervision provided on-site by a BHEC-approved LCSW-S
Provided Supervision options available
Furnished office space, EHR system access, billing services, insurance credentialing support, and referral assistance provided by the Practice
Qualifications
Required
Master’s degree in Social Work (MSW), Counseling, or related field from an accredited program
Active LMSW or LPC Associate license in the State of Texas in good standing
Commitment to ethical, client-centered, trauma-informed clinical practice
Ability to maintain strict confidentiality and comply with HIPAA standards
Strong organizational skills and timely documentation habits
Preferred
Experience or training working with individuals, couples, families, or groups across diverse populations
Familiarity with EHR platforms such as SimplePractice, TherapyNotes, or similar
Located in or near the greater Houston area
